FRAME PARTS

Prosind has many years of engineering experience, designing, and improving compressor frame parts. Whether addressing poor performance of your existing frame parts or making improvements to improve reliability, Prosind possesses the engineering knowhow to help.

Piston Rods
Piston rods are generally designed in accordance with API618. Packing regions are usually coated and ground in durable Tungsten Carbide, though other hardening processes can be offered. We prefer to use the latest materials used in industry, which in most cases will be a significant improvement on the original materials. Attention to detail is paid to heat treatment, surface finish and tolerances, which is critical to proper functioning when installed.

Pistons
We supply many pistons, from small, very high-pressure multi-piece assembled designs to very large 1-piece hollow cast designs. Generally, pistons are designed in 1-3 pieces. Materials such as spheroidal graphite iron and titanium-aluminium alloys are often used. 1-piece hollow cast piston designs may be converted to 2-piece multi web type, in which case, loads will be checked by FEA to confirm correct design. All Aluminium pistons are hard anodized to ensure that the piston ring wear surfaces have an additional hard-wearing layer.

We regularly supply piston rod assemblies to clients. Rather than supply separate piston rods and pistons, we assemble the piston and rod with the corresponding nut, ensuring correct tightening and locking procedures are followed. Where solid rider rings are required, we also will fit the rider rings. Clients appreciate this additional service as it saves them time prior to overhaul.

Crankshafts
We regularly supply crankshafts for a wide range of compressors. The number of throws ranges from 1 to 6. Counterweights may be integrally forged with the crankshaft or separately assembled. In all cases, full inspection reports are provided, including material, heat treatment, crack and final dimensional inspection.

Cylinder Liners
Cylinder liners are regularly supplied for a wide range of compressor designs. Liners may be supplied, completely machined, or left oversize on outside diameter so that clients have some flexibility in the case where work is required on the cylinder itself. Thinner walled liners are supplied with end-covers, so they maintain shape during shipping. Materials used range from standard but effective iron grades to more specialist low temperature or high corrosion resistance steels.

Prosind has successfully completed projects to install replaceable liners into cylinders that were not originally supplied with liners. Cylinders are machined oversize, and special thin liners are shrink-fitted. This provides clients with extra flexibility and maintenance cost saving.

Connecting Rods
Forged connecting rods are regularly supplied. These may be for smaller high speed type compressors or much larger slow revving compressors (more than 400Kg). In all cases, full inspection reports are provided, including material, heat treatment, crack and final dimensional inspection.

Other Frame Parts
Prosind also designs and supplies crossheads, crosshead shoes, bearings, covers, crabs, manifolds and complete cast and machined cylinders.
